Chamber Mission:  "To enhance the economic vitality of its members and the Sisters community."

Founded in 1974, the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is a mutual benefit non-profit corporation organized to unify and coordinate the efforts of businesses and residents in promoting the civic, industrial, commercial, agricultural, environmental and general welfare of the city of Sisters, Oregon and its economic area. The Mission of the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is to enhance the economic vitality of its members and the Sisters Community.

Service Area
The Sisters Chamber serves the city of Sisters (pop. 1706) and the outlying area to a radius of approximately 10 miles. Our service area is roughly defined by that of the Sisters School District, with about 15,000 year-round residents.

Membership, Visitor, and Community Services
The Chamber supports its membership with a wide array of benefits. These include brochure and business card displays in the Visitors’ Center; visitor and resident referrals; membership meetings; business directory listing; business resources; educational workshops; monthly newsletter; mailing lists; relocation information; advocacy; and a free web site listing.

Sisters depends heavily on tourism as its primary economic base. In 2005, Chamber volunteers and staff assisted over 8,000 visitors in the Chamber office and Visitor’s Center.Over 7,000 phone calls were answered and 160,000 email inquiries were answered. Additionally, over 1,323 referrals were made to member businesses.

The Chamber sponsors nine community events annually: Two 2-day Sisters Summer Faires held in July and August; a food court during the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show; the Sisters Bead Show in August; Sisters Antique Fair in August; Western & Native American Arts Festival in September; the annual Chamber Auction in October; Sisters in Sisters; the fall Harvest Faire in October; and the Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade Thanksgiving weekend. A twelve member Board of Directors oversees the operations of the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. The staff consists of an Executive Director, an Events Coordinator, and a Community Relations Assistant.  Volunteers support the Chamber through visitor services, event support, and a variety of committees.

Three primary funding sources support the Chamber: event proceeds (57%); City of Sisters transient room tax (18%); and member dues (16%). The remainder of the budget comes from merchandise sales and donations.
